About Hearth & Crumb

Good bread takes its time.

Our sourdough rises for 36 hours. Then we shape it by hand and bake it the same morning, so it's on the shelf when we open the door.

01 The sourdough story

Why our sourdough takes a day and a half.

We could make bread faster. We just don't think it would taste as good. A long, slow rise gives sourdough its gentle tang, its open crumb and a crust that crackles when you squeeze it.

  1. Mix

Flour, water, salt and starter. Mixed by hand, from scratch.

  2. Rest

Then we leave it alone. The dough rises slowly for 36 hours. No shortcuts.

  3. Shape

Every loaf is shaped by hand and set in a basket to proof.

  4. Bake

Into the oven the same morning, so it's ready when we open at 6 AM.

A loaf of sourdough is $9. It's the bread we're proudest of.

02 Every morning

Baked by hand, the same morning.

There's no factory out back and no frozen dough. Just a bench, an oven and an early alarm. What you buy today was baked today.

We close when the bread sells out. Usually by 2.

So come early. Sourdough is $9, croissants $4.

03 Our home

Open since 2016, right here in Brigham City.

We opened on Center St in 2016. The plan hasn't changed since: real bread, made by hand, ready when you walk in.

This is a neighborhood bakery. A loaf on the way to work. A croissant with your coffee. A whole cake for a birthday, ordered three days ahead. We're glad to be part of your mornings.

04 Visit

Come say hello.

The best way to know our bread is to tear into a warm loaf. Stop by early, grab a coffee and a croissant, and say hi.
